Lectures

The Spencer B. King, Jr. Center for Southern Studies hosts two signature lecture series each year. Together, they examine both the past and present of the American South.

  • Byington Lecture — This series promotes an examination of the contemporary American South.
  • Lamar Lecture — This series, recognized as the most important lecture series on Southern history and literature in the United States, promotes the permanent preservation of Southern culture.
